The aquatic trend: go for a neo-mermaid style

You’ve all seen the seapunk trend, now here’s the aquatic trend. More colours and more romance, this fashion trend takes fashion and beauty into its own hands. Find out how for a marine-inspired summer!

The neo-mermaid hairstyle. This hairstyle takes its inspiration from the water world with its wet-look effect and waves that make you think straightaway of rippled trails created naturally by the sea. To create this chic and wavy wet look, you’ll need some strong-hold gel. You might even want to finish off the style with a layer of hairspray to make sure it lasts. Apply gel evenly to wet hair, pulling it back. To create these ripples, use a comb, as if you were going to create multiple partings on the top of your head. Slick down the sides as well but don’t concentrate too much on the mid-lengths and ends.

The chic aquatic look. At Alberta Ferreti’s Spring-Summer 2013 show, we saw a surge of metallic and glittery looks. Dresses were adorned with shiny sequins and gold glitter and transparent outfits did not go unnoticed. Blue was the most dominant colour but turquoise green and pearly white also had a say in things. The result: a refined and feminine aquatic-inspired collection.

Shimmer make-up. To get this style just right, make-up is very important. This requires an even, flawless complexion. Feel free to apply a pastel, shimmer eyeshadow to your lids and a clear gloss to your lips.
