Open up your features with a statement hair slide

Always on the lookout for new techniques to clip back your front sections? Although you might be used to tucking hair back behind your ears or using a bobby pin or two, this season it’s all about the statement hair slide. The perfect way to keep your hair firmly in place.

The trend. Similar to the punk-rock ear-cuff accessory, the statement hair slide should be worn in a chrome shade and be visible. Thanks to this nifty clip, you can have the best of both worlds, with practicality and a pretty finish. You need confidence to pull off this look, as your slide will be in plain view for all to see…no tucking this gem away under your hair! Your slide should be a statement piece worn with pride.

Which slide is best for me? This summer was all about the floral hair slide, however for winter you should be searching for a chrome-colored alternative. Brunettes should go for golden tones, whilst blondes suit silver. These shades will allow your slide to stand out against your locks. The slide has a slight retro-feel and allows the wearer to open up the face, whatever your hairstyle. Here, a long flat slide has been used for an innocent school-girl look which oozes femininity.

Get the look. Keep in mind that there’s no shying away from your clip with this look. The bigger, the better! Start thinking about how you can best show off your slide with your hairstyle. On the Anteprima runway (pictured), models were styled with low-slung ponytails and a long slide near the crown. Get the look by parting your hair to one side, then secure your lengths at the base of the neck. Add a boho-chic vibe by allowing a few strands to escape. Take a wide section from the top of your head, or your bangs if you have any, then clip into place with your statement slide. Give your look some staying-power with a strong-hold hairspray.
