New must-have: the messy ponytail

Want to show off your long lengths with an on-trend and relaxed hairstyle? Look no further than the messy ponytail spotted on the Tess Giberson Spring-Summer 2015 runway show at New York Fashion Week.

The trend. Runway models were styled with long hair secured into a side ponytail which was low-slung and relaxed. Strands fell loose whilst roots were backcombed at the crown for more volume, adding to the mussed-up vibe that is set to be a big hit this summer.

Get the runway look. Take direct inspiration from the runway and pair with a sophisticated make-up look; the perfect way to dress up your messier style. In terms of make-up, define your peepers with eyeliner or create a statement bold lip with your favorite shade of lipstick. As for outfits, chic and loose pieces were key to nailing this off-duty look.

Step-by-step tutorial. Start by working with clean, dry, detangled hair. Separate the section you want to hang loose at the front, then backcomb the roots at the very top of your head. You can also try adding some Texture Powder to create more texture and hold. Gather your lengths at the nape of the neck and secure into a messy ponytail. Allow lengths to hang over one shoulder and spray evenly with hairspray for a long-lasting finish.
