The messy ponytail gets its name thanks to its ruffled nature. Perfect for women with mid-length and long hair, it also works with several different textures such as straight, curly, frizzy and even waves. This hairstyle will instantly give your look an effortless feel that doesn’t appear like you spent hours in front of the mirror, whilst remaining flirty and feminine. Wear throughout the day for work and pair with a casual or urban chic outfit. Or, if elegance and sophistication is more up your street, try this style out for a night out on the tiles with friends.

Don’t make the mistake of prepping your locks before creating this updo…your natural hair has the ideal texture. Start by sprinkling some Texture Powder into your style to add body. Next, lightly backcomb the roots around the crown for extra volume. Gather your lengths at the rear of your head before securing into a ponytail. Choose a style you are comfortable with, be it a high, medium or low version. After creating your updo, gently tug a few strands loose around the roots to get that ‘just rolled out of bed’ effect. Finally, make sure your finished look stays firmly in place with an even layer of hairspray. For a touch of originality, disguise your hair tie by wrapping a strand from your ponytail around and pinning with a bobby pin.
