Ice blonde hair and bold make-up: a good combination?

Over the last few seasons, the models on the Saint Laurent runway seem to have stepped straight out of the 70s. Rebel rock-chic make-up, grungy outfits and even root re-growth have all been spotted on the catwalk collections. Although this look was made for some, others may have more difficulty nailing this trend.

The ice blonde color trend. This icy shade is very on-trend for winter and is an almost-white hue of blonde. This color is perfect for those who aren’t keen on the grey color trend (another must-have this season). Opting for this ice blonde shade will instantly give you a more youthful appearance. White, after all, is a symbol of innocence and will add a romantic feel to any outfit.

Bold dark make-up. During winter, rock-inspired make-up with gothic undertones always makes a dramatic comeback after an abundance of pastel summery shades. Combined with a pale complexion, statement make-up will complete your look and cement your style status. Winged eyeliner paired with a nude lip can even be worn to work if applied sparingly.

Combining the two. A good idea…in theory. However, when you analyse this trend close-up, the end result is far from it. The combination of ice-blonde locks with root re-growth and harsh eyeliner is difficult to achieve perfectly and is easily messed up. For a more feminine feel that is simpler to create, make sure your roots are no wider than a few centimetres thick and pare-back your eyeliner for a natural finish. If statement looks aren’t your thing, stay well away from this runway trend!
