Hairstyle of the week: sleek braids spotted on the Esteban Cortezar catwalk

We’ve been won over by these two sleek French braids, finished with an on-trend low ponytail. Try out these unique plaits to give your outfit a sophisticated feel, just like the runway models. Let’s take a closer peek at what’s been going on behind the scenes…

Why you’ll love this style. This look is a great way to update your regular updo styles. As well as opening up the wearer’s face, these braids will give your outfit a unique touch that you won’t spot elsewhere. Because this style wraps around to the rear of the head, you’ll need at least shoulder-length hair to create this look. Wear this style whatever the occasion, whether you’re shopping in town, at work or going out in the evening with friends. Make like the runway models and wear yours with a feminine outfit and defined eyes.

Get the runway look. Start by sectioning the areas you want to braid, then pin the rest of your hair out of the way for now. Start braiding by beginning your plait in the centre, near the forehead. Create three equal sections, then bring the right section over the centre section and repeat on the opposite side. Continue this technique right down to the nape of the neck, securing with a hair tie. Repeat on the opposite side, then release the hair you pinned earlier and secure everything into a low ponytail. Complete the look by spraying with hairspray for a long-lasting hold.
