A tribute to Latino culture at Ralph Lauren

For Spring-Summer 2013, Ralph Lauren has taken his inspiration from Spain and Latin America. This new collection is full of character and colour, clothes, hairstyles and hair accessories included! We take the bull by the horns and give you the lowdown!

Fashion. Famous American stylist Ralph Lauren found his inspiration in Iberian culture and its Latin American twin. The clothes are colourful with a particular focus on bright passionate red or graphic with black and white contrasts. Flamenco dresses and long skirts also feature along with matador jackets and ponchos.

Hair. Iberian heritage can also be spotted here, with Flamenco dancer hints. The low, strict chignon is the star of the show along with the traditional ballerina bun. To wear it like an española, start by creating a centre parting. Then straighten your hair thoroughly, smoothing it down to get rid of any frizz, then tie your lengths into a low ponytail. Now create a neat low chignon. Secure with hair pins then use hairspray to hold it in place.

Hair accessories. Most of the models strutted down the catwalk in traditional Latino accessories: the Mexican beret and hat. These two accessories are both worn in the same way – tipped slightly to the side. To work it like a true Latina, wear them in black or red.
