The braided parting spotted on the catwalk

Braids are everywhere this season. The most difficult part of this trend is deciding how to wear your braid! Will you wear it in a neat plait or try out the fishtail braid for size? Ever thought about braiding your parting? Recently spotted on the Carven runway, we’re betting this look is going to become extremely popular over the coming months.

The catwalk models wore their hair long, shiny and effortlessly chic. Come a little closer, however, and you will notice that each style features a braided side parting. A great alternative to a standard parting, this miniature braid can transform your style into an original and elegant look. The best part? You can wear this hairstyle for almost any occasion! This is a more practical alternative to the golden partings we saw recently, which are difficult to create for day-to-day wear.

To create the look, start by brushing your hair thoroughly and straightening the lengths. Once you’ve created your side parting as you normally would, gather the strands of hair on either side in order to start your braid. Divide this section into three, as you would do for a standard braid and start at the roots by crossing the outer section over the middle strand. Repeat this process on the alternate side and repeat until your braid is complete, then secure with an elastic that can be hidden out of sight. Finally, spray evenly with hairspray to keep your style in place.
