Winter must-have: neo-gothic brunette locks

Halfway between dark chestnut and black, gothic brunette locks were recently spotted on the Autumn-Winter 2014-2015 runways. This powerful shade sure does pack a punch and has bags of attitude, even on the most angelic of smiles. Let’s take a closer look at this rebellious hair color.

The neo-gothic brunette trend. It seems that this winter’s catwalk shows were inspired by the gothic trend, borrowing key elements such as black, leather and chain details and making them runway-ready. To nail this moody look, models were styled with ebony-like locks; neo-gothic brown. This rich shade creates a mysterious appeal whilst making the whites of your eyes pop. This color is especially suited to women with blue eyes, just like Eva Green.

Who can wear this daring shade? Whether your complexion is naturally pale ivory or matte in texture, brunette locks suit pretty much any skin color, meaning anybody can give this dark chestnut shade a try…even blondes! Anybody who is tempted to try out a radical color transformation or those of you who want to liven up your natural brunette locks can give this look a go. Don’t assume that you need to wear dark clothes to match your new do…dark brown hair is just as feminine and flirty as any other hair color.

How to alter your make-up for neo-gothic locks. When applying your make-up, avoid being heavy handed at all costs! Your complexion should be uniform and even, whilst remaining natural. Get the look by opting for a small amount of foundation for problem areas and dusting over a layer of setting powder for a silky finish. Apply 1-2 coats of mascara to keep things looking natural and finish your look with a pink lip gloss, close to your own lip shade. Take your look from day to night with hypnotising eye make-up. A smudged cat’s eye along the upper lash line will suffice.

Looking after your new color. Keep your color looking fresh and radiant by using products specifically designed with colored hair in mind. Once a week, nourish your lengths with an argan-oil based mask. Try the Colour Therapy range for ultra-nourishing formulas. For the final touch, apply a pea-sized amount of Nutri Serum to wet or dry hair and distribute evenly, focusing on your dry ends.
