Valentine’s Day: the braided chignon for a romantic dinner for two

Make your Valentine’s Day extra special this year with a romantic beauty look. Want to find out which style you should be wearing for February 14th 2015? Read on to find out more.

The trend. Both chic and bohemian-esque, the braided chignon was recently spotted on the Gosia Baczyńska Autumn-Winter 2014-2015 runway show at Paris Fashion Week. This hairstyle was paired with floaty outfits using lots of chiffon and transparent fabrics for a very modern and elegant end-result.

Who can wear the braided chignon? Anybody who’s looking for a simple, yet on-trend, hairstyle for a super-romantic look this February 14th.

Get the runway look. Start by separating your hair into two sections. Don’t worry about being precise or neat. Focus on one section, divide into three equal parts, then French braid downwards starting from the top. Continue down to the nape of your neck, then change technique and braid as normal to the ends. Secure with a hair tie, then mess things up slightly by teasing with your fingertips for a more relaxed look. Repeat this on the opposite side. Next comes the chignon; gather your two plaits into a chignon shape by rolling each one back up onto itself. Secure with bobby pins and a good dose of hairspray to keep things in place. Complete your look with dramatic eye make-up and a feminine outfit.
