Retro trend: Rolled hair

Retro hair hasn’t gone out of fashion just yet. Whether you’re tempted to try 40s inspired curls or a half-up half-down style worthy of Catherine Deneuve, your options are endless. Today, we’re focusing on the new style that is bang on trend this season, rolled hair.

Low-down on the trend. Fashion and beauty trends tend to re-surface more than once. Nobody is surprised when women are seen wearing their hair in the same styles their grandmothers did when they were young. Romantic hairstyles with beautifully styled locks are bang on trend. If these war-time inspired looks are good enough for Hollywood stars and A-listers, they’re good enough for us!

Who suits rolled hair ? One of the first things to take into consideration is the length of your hair. This style is a lot easier to create if you already have medium to long hair. The next important aspect is the style you currently have as this look is great for opening up the face and adding a romantic touch to your look. This style works especially well with elegant and sophisticated outfits.

Create the style. Wash your hair, then make a neat centre parting. Roll your hair up onto itself to create one long twist at the back of the head. Twist the hair right up to the roots on both sides of the head. Have some bobby pins handy to fix your style into place, and try not to let any whisps of hair loose as this will spoil the overall look. Spray with a thin layer of hairspray to keep your style in place all day.
