New Year's Eve hairstyle: the wavy braid
Want a stand-out hairstyle for New Year’s Eve 2015? Look no further than the wavy braid. This classic look is understated and romantic without being old-fashioned and stuffy. Give your tight chignon style a break and welcome in the New Year with a stylish plait. Get ready for the countdown!
Why choose the wavy braid. Because we’re loving the eclectic mix of the bohemian braid with the wavy effect, born from the roaring 20s. This vintage look creates a nostalgic feel and makes us want to listen to some ragtime jazz and dance the Charleston. This style is bound to cause a stir whilst remaining elegant and effortless. Simply perfect.
Pulling together your look. Leave the standard LBD to the unadventurous this year. Make like the models on the Temperley London Autumn-Winter 2014-2015 runway and opt for blush tones such as a soft rose shade or ivory hues. In terms of material, select delicate fabrics such as chiffon or silk and combine with a mohair gilet or angora sweater to keep you warm, in harmonising tones. As for make-up, continue your pastel theme whilst adding a touch of modernity…a graphic blue winged eyeliner will keep your outfit looking modern.
Create a wavy side braid. To begin, you’ll need to create your waves. To do this, use a curling iron to tong your hair all over, then finish with hairspray to make sure your waves don’t drop halfway through your party. Next, break up your neat curls by lightly brushing. You should be aiming to retain your new-found waves whilst adding a more relaxed, casual feel. You can now move on to styling your braid. Gather your lengths round onto one shoulder and braid down to the ends. Braid as you normally would, using three sections and crossing the outer strands over the center piece. Gently tease your braid and voila! A chic, New Year’s Eve up-do.
