My make-up look for NYE
New Year’s Eve is all about added sparkle and shine! Although sequins, glitter and other shiny shadows are likely to be used in your make-up look this New Year’s Eve, make sure you use them correctly. Whether you’re tempted by a silver eyeliner, iridescent eye shadow or metallic shimmers, perfect your make-up and avoid any faux-pas thanks to our expert tips.
Shimmering make-up. The idea is to avoid the 70s disco look (unless you’re attending a themed party) and instead opt for a more subtle shimmer here and there. For example, this is the perfect opportunity for you to give that silver eyeliner a go that you’ve been dying to try out but haven’t had the courage to wear at work. Why not go one step further by adding a few sparkling crystals to your upper lash line to match your shadow? Metallic shades are perfect for NYE thanks to their iridescent and light-reflecting particles and are a great half-way point if you’d rather stay away from glitter. If your complexion needs perking up, opt for warmer tones on your eyelids such as bronzes and copper colors to warm up your overall look. Want a more subtle make-up look altogether? Leave your eyes alone and instead select a bold lip with a high-shine finish. Finally, sweep a large sized powder brush with a shimmery powder over your décolleté area.
Sophisticated party styles. Step out of your comfort zone and try out something new! For those who prefer to wear their hair in an updo, opt for a top-knot. This classic, chic and simple chignon should be positioned right on top of the head, giving you an extra few inches for your big night. As for those who like wearing their hair down, try out side hair and sweep your lengths around onto one shoulder…one of the red-carpet’s most re-visited looks. Finally, don’t be afraid to experiment with accessories such as headbands, hairbands or even jeweled clips. Anything goes…as long as it shimmers!
