Julie and her masculine/feminine look
Every month, we present to you a woman or a man whose style caught our attention. Today, we take a look at the masculine/feminine style of Julie, our model of the day.
Paris, an October morning. Julie, an IT project manager, hurries across place des Batignolles. We were drawn to her masculine/feminine style with its rock chick edge. Relaxed and smiling, our model of the day happily poses and takes part in a quickfire interview.
Can you describe your style?
First of all, I chose this grey chunky knitted Zara jumper which I bought three years ago. It’s one of my favourites. It is warm and perfect for autumn underneath a leather jacket. As I feel the cold, I like its cosy feel. I combined it with another staple item from my wardrobe, Zara skinny jeans, which I wear nearly all year round, almost like a uniform.
Do you always wear flat shoes?
I opted for these dark burgundy derbies which I bought last winter at Minelli. I was looking for flat shoes (I rarely wear heels) to play with the masculine/feminine style and I fell in love with this pair. I love the floral toe caps and the subtle colour variation. They are very comfortable and go really well with skinny jeans, like I am wearing today, as well as with dresses.
And the purple leather jacket, is that your signature piece?
I must admit that I have a soft spot for purple and burgundy! I bought this leather jacket to top off my civil marriage wedding outfit last summer. I wanted to break away from the mainstream look of my dress and it caused quite a sensation… Its cut is simple and fitted. It’s a beautiful piece from Iro which I got from a private sale.
Your bag is great…
It’s a Gérard Darel bag given to me by my friends for my last birthday. I like the combination of the chain with the three different leathers. It can only hold a small amount (it just has enough space for your purse and phone), so I often couple it with a fabric bag.
When it comes to jewellery, I always wear these two necklaces. The longest is a creation from the brand Juste Juliette which I got to know via Instagram. The other is by Adeline Affre. As for make-up, I keep it very light. Some blusher on my cheeks, my usual iridescent taupe eyeshadow and some mascara. As for my hair, it took no time at all. I just dried it with a hairdryer!
