Guys: how to create this year’s on-trend moustache

Think moustaches are cheesy? Think again! The start of 2014 has seen many vintage and retro moustaches grace the runways already…the perfect excuse to try out some older styles that our grandparents sported in their youth. The 3-day beard might have been red hot last season, but now it’s all about the moustache. Of course, which moustache you choose is totally up to you. Take a look at our favourites for some inspiration.

Moustaches reign supreme in 2014. What goes around comes back around! This is certainly the case for beauty trends, even for men! Even though you haven’t seen a moustache since seeing photos of your dad in the 70s, here they are again. It doesn’t come as a surprise, as trends come and go regularly. Thanks to the recent ‘hipster’ trend that is heavily inspired by the 60s and 70s, the moustache is no longer reserved for Starsky and Hutch-like characters and is now a symbol of masculinity!

Which moustaches are fashionable? Don’t jump to conclusions, however. Not every moustache is on-trend this season. For 2014, it’s short, neat moustaches that are most fashion-forward. Your moustache should be no longer than the lips and shouldn’t follow the curve of your mouth. If you’re going to try out this type of moustache, you need to spend a fair bit of time grooming yours into shape. It needs to be fairly fine, not at all bushy, and trimmed daily. Any other moustache may risk you looking too harsh and stern. Wear your moustache with fun accessories to tone down the effect of your new fashion accessory.

Growing a moustache. A handsome moustache usually takes a good 4-6 weeks to grow fully, and will inevitably result in hairs growing in the wrong direction. To control these pesky rogue hairs, get yourself a small pair of scissors and fine tooth comb. You can now easily trim your moustache to your liking and copy this year’s hot new trend.
