Create a faux-bob with a chic accessory

It’s a tough decision for a woman to make, deciding whether to go for the chop and go for a short haircut. After years of growing your locks, it can seem impossible to imagine yourself with a bob or a boyish crop. This is where the faux-bob steps in. Make the most of the bob trend without your hair going anywhere near a pair of scissors!

The catwalk hair trend. On the Marc By Marc Jacobs runway, all of the fashion models were sporting faux-bobs. An excellent way to create the illusion of short hair, the faux-bob has traditionally been styled with the aid of bobby pins and clips. This year however, the faux-bob has a new twist…a scarf worn tightly around the neck which will help to maintain your style.

Who can wear the look? This one is fairly simple; anybody who is afraid of cutting their hair short. The scarf around the neck means you can try out this look without the long-term commitment of cutting your hair for real. Opt for a scarf that tones with your outfit in dark or more vibrant colors for an on-trend look.

How to create the style. Leave your hair flowing and wrap a scarf around your neck, as shown. Your hair shouldn’t be too tight against your face, but rather loose to create the illusion of a voluminous bob. On the runway, the lengths of this faux-bob were left visible. However, for evening looks, you may prefer to hide the lengths of this style behind your head or even within the scarf itself if your hair isn’t too heavy. Once you have tied your scarf, gently tease some hair from above the scarf to create a more natural, voluminous feel.
