Yes or no to this season’s diamante cloche hat?
From panama hats to caps, there’s a vast choice of accessories that will protect your hair from the sun’s rays this summer. However, have you thought about wearing a cloche hat to the beach? More specifically a diamante-encrusted version! No? This could be down to the fact that this hat is fairly difficult to wear for day-to-day occasions. Let’s take a closer look at this unique accessory.
The cloche hat. Originally made popular amongst the elderly, the cloche hat has unfortunately kept its reputation for being an ‘old lady’ hat. Sonia Rykiel has updated this old classic and given it a style overhaul with some sparkly diamante jewels for a modern touch. However, we’re still struggling to figure out how to wear this accessory…especially after seeing the runway photos. How can a woman walk properly with a hat pulled down tightly over her eyes? We’re yet to be convinced!
Who can wear the diamante cloche? It’s difficult to say who can pull of this look on a day-to-day basis, especially during summer. The cloche hat is often made out of a thick felt fabric which heats up very quickly. We can’t exactly see ourselves wearing our summer bikini and a cloche! Maybe give this look a miss and pass it on to your aunty as a gift for Christmas…
How to wear this accessory. If you’re still tempted to give this accessory a go, you’ll need to find the right hairstyle to wear underneath. Women with short hair should allow their lengths to flow loose, whereas longer styles can try tying up their ends. If your hair is mid-length to long, try securing your hair into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck to keep hair out of your face. Create a centre parting and secure at the base of the neck with a hair tie. So…will you be giving the diamante cloche hat a whirl this summer?
