The snood, the alternative to the winter hat

In winter you usually reach straight for your hat-scarf-glove set to keep you warm. But this year there’s something new! The snood, an original take on the scarf, is tube-shaped and oversize.

The snood trend. The snood is a tube-shaped scarf, which means it doesn’t have any ends. It is worn pulled over the head like a loose collar. The snood looks its best in an oversize version. It can transform from a scarf to a hood/hat, if it’s big enough to slip over your head.

Choosing your snood. The snood exists in many different materials and colours. We love the chunky knit and wool versions, both trendy and cosy. To be able to wear your snood as an everyday accessory, avoid garish colours or prints that will be difficult to mix and match. Play it safe with neutral colours such as black, navy blue, ivory or even beige.

How to wear the snood. The good thing about the snood is that you can really wrap yourself up in it! It covers your neck and even the bottom half of your face, if you go for an oversize version. You can also pull it up to cover your ears, which can often be sensitive to the cold. Another option is wearing the snood like a scarf/hood. Place it around your neck and pull the back half over your head. Perfect for a snug snow queen effect!
