Spring-summer 2013: how to wear the headscarf
The headscarf is a favourite accessory when the warm weather starts to arrive. It is back this season and can be worn in so many different ways to suit your style, your mood and your hairstyles! Find out here how to wear the headscarf this season!
The colourful, knotted headscarf. The sunny days are here again and with them comes the urge to wear colourful clothes! Which works out well seeing as headscarves in bright, multicoloured prints are all the rage this season. At Dolce & Gabbana, the headscarf is made from fine materials such as silk and features chic, floral patterns. Here, after twisting your headscarf, knot it around your head, fastening to the side at the back of your neck. At Marc Jacobs, the headscarf is also multicoloured but worn in a smarter, less rigid way. In both cases, hair is worn in an up-do, such as a chignon.
The rockabilly, retro headscarf. Many fashionistas have fallen in love with the rock style. And luckily for them, this style bases itself on a number of fashion codes, which makes for lots of choice. This season, for a rockabilly look, the Easter-egg scarf is the accessory of choice! To create yours, take a small scarf, or even better, a bandana. Twist it then wrap it around your head, covering your ears, then create a double knot on the top of your head. To make it even more retro, opt for a dot-print scarf. This style can also be worn with up-dos.
The bohemian scarf as a hair tie. Put your hair bands away for the season and instead turn to headscarves to hold your up-dos and work the boho chic look. Apply a styling mousse to wet hair to add texture and body then dry, working your fingers through the lengths for a gently tousled look. Next, tie your hair into a low, flexible ponytail using the scarf. Let the lengths of your scarf blend in with the rest of your hair.
