Sophisticated-chic: the wet-look chignon
Loose lengths, braided locks or ponytails… the wet-look trend is versatile, that’s for sure! This season, why not pair yours with a slick chignon for a look that screams sophistication, similar to the models on the Wes Gordon Spring-Summer 2015 runway at New York Fashion Week.
The trend. An uber-sleek look with not a hair out of place (literally!). Models were styled with a ballerina chignon that was tight and given structure with a center parting, slicked back with a wet-look effect. This high-shine finish instantly adds an elegant feel that is smart and sophisticated.
Who can wear the wet-look chignon? Anybody who loves a classic up-do and who wants to spice up their regular chignon. The wet-look version of this classic is perfect for special occasions, such as birthdays, evening events or weddings.
Get the runway look. Work with damp hair that has air-dried to enhance the wet-look effect. Start by creating a neat center parting. Next, warm a small amount of Design Gel between your palms and apply all over the hair, from root to tip. You can then gather your lengths at the nape of the neck to create a chignon, securing into place with hair pins and finishing with a layer of hairspray to ensure your new style stays put all day long!
