Looking after long hair in summer

The longer your hair is, the more easily it suffers damage from UV rays and other aggressions. In summer it is a lot more sensitive to the effects of sun, sand and chlorine. It gets damaged and ruined a lot more quickly.

Today there is a whole range of products you can use to look after long hair in summer. “Whether with a hydrating cream, by applying an anti-UV spray when in the sun or with oils to protect the mid-lengths and ends, long hair needs to be constantly protected in summer. If you´re spending your summer holiday on the beach, as well as using products, remember to rinse your hair regularly as sand leaves it feeling dry.”

Whether you´re blonde or brunette, it´s all the same. Long hair is a lot more sensitive if it is coloured or highlighted. “As it is a lot more sensitive, it is often finer and more fragile, regardless of the colour. Choose preventive products before heading on a beach holiday. For example, a keratin shampoo will restructure the hair´s fibre, which will leave hair looking healthy.”

Not only does long hair need to be protected using special products, but you should also use accessories. “Whatever your style, you´ll need a hat or cap as sand is not great for your hair.”

Our tip: The sun´s action on long hair results in pretty highlights to start with, but the effect doesn´t last. After your holiday, look after your colour to restore your hair´s radiance.
