Hair loss: what can you do to treat it?

Perhaps you've noticed clumps of hair coming out onto your brush, in the shower and even on your clothes for some time now? Before you start freaking out, find out how to treat this hair loss by changing your habits.

Hair loss is completely normal. On average we lose between 80 and 100 hairs a day. If you have noticed more hair starting to come out than usual, don't panic. You simply need to tackle the problem head on so that it doesn't take hold.

Determine the cause of your hair loss

Sometimes hair loss can be caused by a hormonal imbalance. This is the case for post-partum alopecia which can affect young mothers after they have given birth. External factors such as stress, fatigue and the changing of the seasons are also known to aggravate the problem.

Adjust your haircare regime...

Before you start using anti-hair loss treatments, it is advisable to start adopting new beauty habits. This means your scalp should now become a priority. Pamper it with massages to stimulate blood circulation and to promote regrowth. Finally, protect your hair against overly damaging heated styling tools. If you can't go without, make sure you use thermo-protective spray. Finally, apply nigella oil to your locks, which is renowned for its anti-hair loss properties.

... And your diet

To keep your hair in tip-top condition, focus on what you eat. Your diet plays a major role in keeping your hair healthy. If you are experiencing hair loss, favour balanced meals high in iron and protein. You can of course top it all off with dietary supplements and boost your intake of B Vitamins from time to time.

If despite all of your efforts you continue to lose excessive amounts of hair, consider consulting a dermatologist.
