Get your fine hair looking fabulous
Fine hair does not have to be your enemy. Though it can often make your life difficult, there are solutions available. Here’s some advice from the professionals on how to get it looking its best.
Fine hair tends to be fragile by nature. To avoid risking damage, be sure to look after it: adopt the right habits, the right cuts and use the right products. ‘Start with a suitable haircut. With fine hair, go for full, one-length cuts. Avoid layered styles or thinned-out ends, especially with really fine or long hair. Otherwise, you can expect rat tails… You’ve been warned’!
When it comes to hair care products, shampoo, masks and volumising sprays are what your hair needs. ‘These will give your fine hair a much-needed boost by adding volume and texture. This added life will make your hair so much easier to style’.
Another tip is colouring. Though many people think otherwise, an all-over colour or highlights will not make your hair more fragile (when used in moderation of course). ‘Colouring can make your hair thicker. The colour coats the hair and adds a certain thickness to certain sections. Try it’!
Backcombing your hair is another good option, if you have hair to backcomb that is… If your hair is too fine, it will be difficult to backcomb and even harder to keep the results in place. ‘For other hair types though, backcombing is ideal! It is a way of adding natural volume and texture to your hair and provides a variety of styling options’. If your hair is fine but you have a lot of it, you’ll have no problem creating your favourite styles!
Our tip: If your hair is thick enough, extensions can also be a good option for adding volume and density!
