Fine hair: how do I choose a haircut to get more volume?

Is your fine hair desperately lacking depth? Our expert gives you their advice on how to obtain plumped up, voluminous hair, full of vitality.

Opt for a layered cut

It’s essential for giving your hair a boost. The technique used is ultra-simple: your hairdresser will quite simply cut the area where you want to obtain thickness. According to your desired look, opt for a bob which will add volume at the tips or an all-round layered style to give your hair a boost”.

Your layered cut must be balanced so it looks good. “It’s all a matter of striking the right balance between the given volume and the quantity of hair cut off. Furthermore, go for short to mid-length hair (shoulder length). The final result will not meet your expectations if you have a layered cut on both long AND fine hair”.

“Don’t excessively layer fine hair at the risk of making it weak.”

Use specialized products

Obtaining more volume also involves the use of treatments. “Integrate the products from the Volume Therapy range into your hair regime. The Texture and Held Foamer is perfect for you: however use it sparingly. Two to three times a week, wash your hair with Soft and Tone shampoo. Finally, once a week: let Lightness and Density milk sink into damp hair for 5 minutes before thoroughly rinsing it. Above all, don’t use too many products at the risk of weighing your hair down, making it greasy and flat”.

Our advice. Flexible, undefined or wavy hairstyles always appear more voluminous than highly straightened hair. Therefore feel free to scrunch, backcomb or wave your hair. In this case, texturizing products will be your best friends. According to your preferences: use Design Mousse to add volume to your roots, Texture Powder to cover the fiber or Design Spray to thicken your hair. The same goes for all of your treatments, apply them lightly!
