Bridal hairstyles: hair accessories
Bridal hairstyles are accessorizing! Forget for a moment the traditional bun-and-veil and give your hairstyle a boost with ornate headbands, jewellery or even chic hair slides for a modern and sexy look on your wedding day.
Headband. This is the accessory of choice for fashionistas this spring-summer but it can also be for brides who want to enrich their hairstyles. All you need to do is choose one based on your outfit to avoid any clash. The advantage is that it can be worn just as well on short and on long hair. For a classic chic look, choose a lace headband or one in satin ribbon. For a more bohemian look, try the flowered or feathered headband. If you choose this option, avoid wearing a frilly dress so you don’t look like Pocahontas! If you want to be more traditional, opt for delicate pearls.
Tiara. Why not go royal and try a hairstyle fit for a queen? The tiara is not reserved to royalty and can be worn on the head of common mortals! You can choose sparkling diamante or even a beaded tiara. It is a classy accessory which you should match with a sophisticated look. So try pairing it with a pearl or tulle dress. You can use your tiara as a headband, closer to the front of your head, or fix it to a bun.
Hair slide. Its primary aim is to hold your hair in place. But it can also be used as a decorative accessory. For a romantic look, choose lace or beaded slides. For a more jewelled slide, the best option is to go for rhinestone. Now you just need to know how to use it; on loose hair for a more messy but nevertheless sophisticated style or on tied-up hair to add a special touch to a classic hairstyle.
Fascinator. Whether your hair is up or down, a hat dresses a hairstyle. A sophisticated accessory par excellence, it is back on the scene and has many fans. For a special bridal fascinator, choose one with veils. But you can also find some in silk or with feathers, which are more discreet and which can be attached like a large slide. It is best to put it towards the front or the side of your head.
