A closer look at the dishevelled braid

Do plaits instantly make you think of tightly braided pigtails with bobby pins everywhere? All of that is changing. This season, let your braids hang loose and more relaxed than ever.

Good news for all of you with long, layered locks…this winter, the braid is being worn loose and slightly teased out of shape. The more strands that escape your haphazard look, the better. The dishevelled plait is the rock-n-roll cousin to the looser version and is set to be one of the top trends for 2015.

Wear your braid to one side, which will really highlight its messiness and asymmetric style as well as opening up your face. Get the runway look by plaiting how you normally would. Your braiding technique is not a top priority when it comes to the overall finish. Next, tease out certain strands to add a messy feel and texture. Give your completed braid a longer-lasting hold by spraying all-over with dry shampoo before styling.
