2 ways to protect your hair from the sun with a headscarf
At this time of year, you’re likely to be in full holiday-mode or about to pack your case for your break abroad. As well as remembering to pack Sun Therapy spray into your toiletry bag, you should also start thinking about wearing a headscarf to protect your locks from the sun’s rays. Read on to discover 2 ways to tie your headscarf to ensure your hair stays protected whilst remaining on-trend this summer.
The first way is simply to tie your scarf into a knot. Ideally, you should wear this version with a low hairstyle such as a braid, ponytail or a loose chignon, depending on which look you prefer. Once you have finished styling your hair, take your headscarf in two hands and position the centre point of the material at the base of the neck. Twist upwards towards the roots at the top of your style, so that each side is of equal length. To finish, tie into a subtle knot, avoiding a large statement bow.
The second way to style your headscarf is to create a triangle shape on top of your hair. Take a triangular-shaped scarf and rest on top of your style, starting from the roots. Next, tie a large bow at the nape of your neck with the ends, above the lengths. This technique ensures that both the mid-lengths and roots of your hair are effectively protected and shielded from the sun. Want to keep your hair out of the sun completely? Tie it up so that it stays covered beneath your headscarf.
Using a scarf to protect your locks is an ideal way to provide your hair with protection and some much-needed shade from hot temperatures. However, you should still be applying a protective spray before styling your hair, for maximum protection.
