Why use hair vinegar?
Everyone knows that vinegar is a home remedy for making hair look shiny. It’s effective, but does not smell so good. Fortunately, there now are specific treatments which have the same properties and amplify their effect. You should try them out right away!
Since ancient times, vinegar has been used in many ways: as a flavour enhancer in cooking, a cleaning product, a purifying drink… And for the hair, it is a regulating treatment for your scalp and adds shine.
How it works
Vinegar closes the hair fibre’s cuticles. This helps:
– facilitate detangling
– keep your hair well moisturised
– hold onto your hair’s colour by limiting the impact of hard water
– ease itching by purifying the scalp with its acidic pH
– address greasy hair by regulating the production of sebum
– control static electricity
– increase hair growth speed by activating blood circulation.
Why buy hair vinegar?
Although ordinary vinegar has all of these qualities it can, even diluted in rinsing water, be damaging for weakened hair and in the long run, leave pink marks in blond hair. Hair vinegar, on the other hand, is designed to work on your hair gently. It is less concentrated and is combined with other ingredients for more targeted action.
Choose the right hair vinegar
There are as many vinegars out there as there are hair problems. So to combat lacklustre locks, opt for a raspberry or red grapevine hair vinegar combined with acerola. For more shine, blonds should opt or products containing camomile. Irritated scalps can be soothed by treatments containing lavender or rosemary. Finally, to boost growth, your best ally is cider-based hair vinegar.
You can switch to different hair vinegars depending on your hair issues. They are generally applied just before the last rinse.
