What to do when your salon appointment doesn’t go to plan...
We’ve all been there. Fresh out of the salon, you realise that you hate your new hairstyle! Discover our pros’ top tips to managing the situation and rectifying your hair-disaster.
The boyish crop is the most difficult style to alter if you’re not keen on your new look. ‘The only option is to find another style which is a similar length. If your problem is more to do with a lack of volume or an uneven trim, there’s always a way to put this right. If your hair is still long in length, accessories may be your best friend for concealing a hair catastrophe. If your fringe hasn’t been cut short enough and is dangling in your face, try using a stylish clip to keep it out of your eyes. Similarly, hair ties will keep your lengths secured in place and a hat will hide anything more glaringly obvious, such as a color mishap’.
Before trying to rectify the situation yourself, try to allow your hair to do its own thing. ‘Wait for your hair to grow out before attempting a DIY cut at home. Even if your style is unbearable for the first few days, you’ll be able to manage your style and alter it with accessories and products instead of making any drastic changes. After 2-3 weeks you’ll get used to learning how to tame it and your hair will have grown slightly, disguising a bad cut’.
Our advice: If you really can’t stand your new style, don’t be tempted to whip out your own scissors. Book an emergency appointment with a hair specialist and explain which elements of your look you are unhappy with. This is the ideal time to explain exactly what you want and avoid repeating the same mistakes!
