What is the difference between a Contrast and a Sunlight treatment?

The promise of these two lightening techniques? To add an instant 'sun-kissed' effect to your hair! However, despite being very similar, they are actually quite different. Discover which one is made for you.

Why adopt these exclusive Jean Louis David techniques?

Because they instantly boost your colour's radiant shine! Whether you go for a Contrast or a Sunlight treatment, the technique and products used remain the same. In both cases, your hair is partially lightened using luminous streaks underneath and on the top layer. You can also choose the streaks' thickness and intensity according to your desired look. However, always opt for a tone one to four shades lighter than your base colour to guarantee a natural finish.

"These techniques are perfect for adding relief to your haircut, giving it character and highlighting the slightest of details".

What are the differences?

The Contrast technique is reserved for light to average bases. Originally, the Jean Louis David version of highlights consisted of making your hair even blonder. The highlights are verging on golden. As for roots, they are left as they are to obtain natural and progressive lightening. Conversely, the Sunlight treatment is recommended for dark bases. With it, you will not be able to go completely blond but rather you can adopt brown, auburn or mahogany highlights. If you are blond, you can also opt for this technique: your hair will be highlighted with copper-coloured streaks.

How do I maintain my treatment?

The Contrast and Sunlight treatments are temporary colouring techniques. Therefore they don't require a lot of upkeep. They gradually fade when you shampoo your hair and age very well over time. All the same, visit your hairdresser every 3-4 months to revive your colour's shine and to carry out any touch-ups to your hair. At home, pamper your hair by adopting the Color Therapy regime. You will therefore keep your locks healthy whilst prolonging your colour's shine for days.
