The pro’s verdict on voluminous mid-length hair
Mid length, voluminous hair is one of Spring-Summer 2014’s hottest hair looks. Simple to create, this style is also easy to maintain on a day-to-day basis. The pros give their verdict on voluminous mid-lengths this season.
The key to creating full-looking hair is to go for layers. ‘The two go hand in hand, and it’s not possible to create volume any other way. You can go for light or heavy layers, depending on your desired look, however, layers are a must. Your layers should depend on the thickness of your hair and should ideally start from the mid-lengths downwards’.
Contrary to what many women belive, it is possible to have long voluminous hair. ‘The length of your hair has no effect on how much volume your hair can create. It’s all about the layering. If you hair is very fine, don’t go for as many layers as are needed for thick hair. Thicker locks need more layers as the hair can weigh down your style, making it flat’.
At your salon appointment, make sure you explain to your stylist that you want subtle layers that will give your hair added body. ‘Your hair should look full of movement, especially around the face. Another point to consider is how you want your tips to look. Many women like their ends to be full, whereas others prefer a whispy effect. It’s up to you to decide which style is right for you’.
Our tip: You can maximise your hair’s volume on a daily basis by using specifically designed styling products. Try our mousse from the Volume Therapy range, or Brush Cream for added fullness.
