Leila, 28: “The snood, my alternative to the beanie”

Your look? In winter I find it hard to look girlie and glamorous; I get cold so easily that I never wear anything remotely revealing. As a result, when it’s cold outside, I don’t look so hot. I’d rather snuggle up in jumpers, coats and jackets than look trendy. But I do try to avoid looking like a complete snow bear! So I generally avoid furry ski boots, even though they can be quite tempting.

Your hairstyle ? It sounds weird but I like having short hair or bobs in winter and longer hair in summer. This winter I’ve gone for a long bob, which I wear down, accessorised with a full, thick fringe. This keeps my head warm without having to wear a beanie or other hats of this sort. I try to avoid these, for style reasons mostly. Hats don’t really suit me. And they leave my hair looking dull.

Your style today? Rather than wearing hats, which tend to be disastrous for my hair, I go for snoods. These are ultra-trendy tube scarves that come high enough to keep you warm. So when I get really cold, I just bury my nose in it. And they don’t affect my hairstyle. When I arrive at the office or go for a girls’ night out, my hair looks just as good as it did when I left the house! And if it’s raining, I protect my hair from the wet with a simple umbrella.
