Can the wet-look create body and movement?
Most wet-look styles appear rigid and fixed into place. Is this because of the styling products used or is this simply part of the trend? How should you style your hair if you want a wet-look with more volume and body? The pros give their top tips.
It’s more often than not the products used which give the wet-look its long-lasting hold. ‘Products like gel are used to keep the wearer’s style firmly in place, creating a shiny wet-look finish’.
Some styling products can actually make hair look greasy and can create the wet-look shine without necessarily fixing the hair rigidly into place. ‘Waxes and serums are better for this kind of finish. Combine the two for a high-shine end-result without the strong hold. This is why these kinds of products aren’t traditionally used for creating the wet look’.
It’s always difficult to judge how much product you should be using to get the balance right between high-shine and movement. ‘One creates a glossy finish whilst the other creates a stiff-texture. Experiment and discover what works best for your individual hair type. Keep in mind that the wet-look with body and movement is always possible’.
Our advice: The wet-look doesn’t always need to be straight and firmly held in place. All you need to remember is that high-shine finish. Keep a handy miniature sized container of your shine product in your handbag for on-the-go touch-ups.
