A closer look at the half hawk

The half hawk has seduced some of the biggest fashionistas, has established itself as a red carpet regular and, bit by bit, is beginning to make its way across the Atlantic. But what exactly is a half hawk and why is it causing such a sensation? Here are some answers.

The half hawk trend. We first started seeing it in the spring-summer season, but this trend has really made a name for itself this autumn-winter. So where does this trend come from? From the US, of course! Inspired by the hairstyles of an Amerindian tribe, the half hawk cut is more rock or punk than ethnic. It involves shaving a section of the head and leaving the rest natural. Not sure about this unusual, edgy cut? Here are some ideas on how to wear it!

Wear the half hawk on long hair. Alice Dellal, the model with all the tattoos, was one of the first to brave the half hawk on long hair. And whether she wears it in a grungy style or for a more retro chic effect, one thing is sure, this cut turns heads! To style her hair, the supermodel takes inspiration from the side-hair trend. For a punk effect, she goes for dark roots and lighter lengths. And for a retro look, she curls her lengths, just like they did in the 50s. For a more sophisticated and functional style, only shave a tiny section on each side of your head and leave the rest long. You can either play around with it and wear a ponytail, or cover the shaved sections with your lengths.

Wear the half hawk on short hair. The half hawk can also be worn on short hair. Wondering what a tomboy/half hawk cut will look like? Ultra rock! To do this, shave the sides but leave lots of length on the top of your head. Then create original styles using a styling and fixing gel. Try slick hair, pulled back for a wet look effect. Or create a rock quiff, backcombing the remaining hair.
