90s crimped hair is back!

The crimped hair you adored so much back in the nineties is back in the spotlight! Crimped hair no longer needs to be a guilty pleasure. Wear this style whenever you want without feeling behind with the times. Let’s look at this trend in more detail.

Crimped hair for maximum volume. Crimped hair is the way forward for creating a truly wild style. Seen at Oscar de la Renta and Costume National Spring-Summer 2012 catwalk shows, crimped hair takes you right back to the 90s. This trend, perfect for mid-length to long hair, is also great for adding volume to fine hair. Crimping allows you to play around with textures and achieve XXL volume.

Style ideas. At Oscar de la Renta, a figure worthy of a Greek goddess is chosen for a romantic look. To reflect this image, go for loose crimped hair! Either crimp all of your hair, which you can also accessorise with floral headbands; or simply crimp the roots to the mid-lengths, or even just the ends. For XXL volume, crimp all of your hair and pump up the volume using a styling mousse. For a more rock chick look, try adding a crimped quiff to a straight bun.

How to get crimped hair. Most importantly, you will need crimping irons at the ready. The waved plates will let you create your crimped style in no time. Before turning them on, dry your hair with a hair dryer, smoothing it out with a brush. Then, select thin sections of hair to insert into the crimping irons. Leave the irons on the hair for a maximum of three seconds to avoid damage. For a more edgy look, straighten the roots or the ends after crimping.
