3 hairstyles to cope with a heatwave

When the heat is off the scale, tying your hair back is a foregone conclusion. To stay cool and look stylish at the same time, here are our top 3 hairstyles, perfect for when the temperature rises.

The top knot

Why this look? This snail shell chignon is ideal for keeping your hair off your neck. Tightly coiled, it adds a sophisticated touch to your outfit. Slightly de-styled, it gives your look a more relaxed feel.

The technique. Put your hair up in a high ponytail before dividing your locks into two. Then wrap the first piece of hair around the hairband clockwise and hold it in place with hairpins. Do the same with the rest of your hair in the opposite direction to form a bun with a “knot effect”.

The high side ponytail

Why this look? You will most likely have noticed, ponytails are making a big comeback on the catwalk. Although the low version is on trend this summer , wearing it to one side is ideal for a beach look.

The technique. Start by gathering all of your hair at the top of your head to form the ponytail and make sure you put it slightly off centre, to the right or left depending on your desired look. Then tie it up using a hairband and that’s all there is to it!

The braided bun

Why this look? This more sophisticated version of the chignon is perfect for evening wear.

The technique. Gather your hair towards the back to form a high ponytail, making sure that you flatten down the hair at the front. To do this, spritz hairspray onto a brush and use it to gather your hair towards the back, holding the style in place at the same time. Once you have put your hair up, braid your locks down to the tips. All you need to do now is wind the braid around itself to form the bun and simply hold it in place with a few hairpins.
