Valeriane’s most radical hairstyle change

“There are times in life when we simply need a change… After a break-up, some people decide to move house, revamp their wardrobe or go on a diet. But I decided to change my hairstyle. Radically. It’s as if I need a new me to help me get over it!

When my boyfriend left me, I felt like I needed a change. I wasn’t ready to up sticks and go volunteering on the other side of the world; I just wanted to change a few small things to make me feel better! And I had just the hairstyle in mind.

I didn’t want to change my colour or simply have my hair cut, I wanted something really different, and something that stood out. I have British supermodel Alice Dellal, who has had one side of her hair shaved for a while now, to thank for my new cut. I think it’s daring, rock-star and fantastically sexy all at the same time.

Today it’s known as the half-hawk, and a lot of celebs have been sporting it. But when I had it done a few months ago, I really stood out! I kept the rest of my hair natural and long to keep a bit of glamour. At the moment, as soon as it grows I take my clippers and shave it. But maybe I’ll leave it to grow… If I meet someone new!”
