The pros discuss the mid-length dip-dye

The dip-dye trend has been around for the past few seasons now, and many people are saying this look is now overdone and going out of style. This is why newer versions of this trend are beginning to surface. Let’s take a look at the mid-length take on dip-dyed locks.

Dip dye is now a fairly common hair coloring technique. ‘This look is very common in the US and the drastic change of color no longer comes as a surprise to passers-by. You might say that the dip-dye trend has reached its peak, in terms of popularity’.

Here, the change in color from blonde to brown is quite prominent, meaning this isn’t a true dip-dye. ‘The model’s hairstyle has been lightened around the under sections, which is what makes this look different from the more traditional dip-dye. Want to create a similar effect? Although this two-tone graduation is far from being natural, the look is surprisingly popular with women. If you're aiming to turn heads, then this is the right color for you!’

Splashlight is a much more on-trend and current coloring technique. ‘Bear in mind, however, that this technique will not lighten the same areas as a dip-dye treatment. Different sections are lightened, creating an overall lighter appearance, instead of a distinct change in color’.

Our advice: Want to go back to your natural color after a dip-dye treatment? Head to your salon for a fresh color. Your stylist will prepare your hair so that it takes on the shade of your new color more effectively. You’ll need to keep and eye on your ends after having a dip-dye treatment, as color fade is more likely due to bleaching.
