The neo-sixties hairstyle
Retro is a key theme in today’s fashion, beauty and hair trends. We simply cannot leave our sixties sisters’ iconic hairstyles behind. The style is copied and reinvented to create on-trend, modernized sixties looks. Back to the 60s with this retro style!
Who for? For anyone who wants an on-trend yet retro haircut. Unlike the huge, backcombed-to-the-extreme hairstyles of the 60s, this style is all about subtlety. To create it, you need fairly long, largely one-length hair, preferably with few layers. After all, it’s the thickness of the hair that will give the cut its movement.
How to create the neo-sixties hairstyle. After washing your hair, apply a styling mousse to add texture and volume. Blow-dry your hair upside down to lift the roots then begin styling. Style using wide-barrelled curling tongs to create loose waves rather than corkscrew curls. When you’re done, run your fingers through your hair to loosen the curls for a more natural result, using a styling spray that allows you to work gently. Why not flick the ends out using a straightener for a cheeky, mischievous touch. Finally, to emphasise the sixties effect, create a side parting and backcomb the thickest side of the hair to create as much volume as you want!
