Spotted on the catwalks: the chromed hair barrette

Traditionally reserved for little girl or chic grandmother hairstyles, the chrome hair barrette is back and trending. Seen on the Jason Wu catwalk in New York, the chrome hair barrette accentuates this season's chignons and pony-tails. Feminine and practical, discover this new must-have accessory.

On the catwalk, the hairstyle is defined with a center parting. For the hairstyle to hold perfectly attempt it a few days after your last shampoo. Once you have parted your hair, make a low chignon. On the catwalk, the chignon is very elaborate with intertwining hair strands. But you can make your chignon as simple as you wish.

Part your hair in the center and create a low chignon. Before making the chignon, apply a drop of  gel to the bottom of your hair to give a wet look effect to the tips of the hair. The styling product will ensure a fixed chignon without loose strands.  The chignon must be quite voluminous in order for the chrome hair barrette to make it stand out and not overshadow it. Once you have made the chignon, secure it with the chrome hair barrette. In case the hair barrette is too small to hold all of the chignon then use clips and pins to rectify loose hairs. Finish off the hairdo with hairspray for a durable hold!
