How can you do a low chignon in under a minute?

Are you in need of an elegant hairstyle which can be done in no time at all? Why not go in for this pretty, low chignon which is sophisticated yet Bohemian ? What’s more, you can do it double quick whenever you want ! Here’s how.

Form a mid-height ponytail

After detangling your hair, gather it at mid-height at the back of your head and start by forming a basic ponytail. Either with a middle or side part, a full fringe or a side-swept thinned-out front section, feel free to keep your hairstyle’s features to give the chignon extra character.

Turn the ponytail into a low chignon

To form a pretty chignon at the nape of the neck, loosen your updo so that there is some slack in the section just before the hairband. Then, separate your locks into two where you have loosened the ponytail (the section before you reach the hairband), forming a gap in between. This is where sleight of hand will really come into play to make styling easier ! Roll the base of your updo over – including the hairband – and flip your ponytail through the gap so that it twists your hair down to the tips. Finally, tie up the rest of your locks to form the low chignon. Hold the updo in place by pinning the outer strands towards the centre of the gap with a few flat hair pins which will easily blend into your hair.

Give the hairstyle a Bohemian look

To finish off the hairstyle, add a tousled look to your updo by picking out a few strands to frame your face. You can make them as charmingly wavy as you want.
