There is a difference between lightened strands and hair which has turned a different colour. The first case is the result of prolonged sun exposure. The colour varies by a few tones, highlights are brightened and accentuated for a natural result. It concerns all of the nuances in your hair.
When a colour changes, it's due to a mix of the sun, salt and/or chlorine and repetitive shampooing (combined with UV rays, the effects are increased and the hair fibre is stripped). The most affected? People who have coloured their hair blonde. To obtain lighter strands, your hairdresser often has to bleach your locks which weakens your hair: your hair's cuticles are open and are more sensitive to external elements. As for swimming, chlorine (blue) has a direct impact on the hair fibre and pigments it. The result: blonde with tinges of green.

For a flawless, undamaged colour this summer, apply a sun protective treatment to your hair before and after each swim in the sea or pool. A good tip for you to try? Rinse your locks in clean water and wear a shower cap if you plan on doing non-stop laps in the pool.
