As a general rule, there are normally between 75,000 and 150,000 hairs on your head! But, did you know that each hair lasts no longer than 10 years?
A hair's life is split into 3 distinct periods. Firstly comes the anagen
phase which can last between 4-7 years. This is the time when your hair tends to grow at around one centimeter every month. Three quarters of your hair is grown during this stage. Next comes the catagen
phase where the hair begins to relax and stops growing for around 3 weeks. This is directly followed by the telogen
phase. The hair follicles remain inactive for 3 months which is when the hair comes to the end of its life span. You may recognize this stage by the hair that falls out when brushing. Luckily, Mother Nature has your back as the cycle repeats itself continuously, starting again with the anagen phase. Throughout your life, the amount of hair produced by the scalp can reach up to 1,000km, over 20 times!
