Bronzing: the must-have hair trend for summer 2018

Is your hair looking limp and lifeless? Opt for bronzing, the most on-trend colouring technique of summer 2018! We take a closer look.

What is it?

It is a partial colouring technique which mimics the lightening effect of the sun, for locks that are as radiant as if they had been sun-kissed after hours of exposure under UV rays, hence the name. Bronzing is greatly inspired by the balayage technique; however, it is a completely reinvented version.

The new aspects

This sun-kissed effect is created by applying a few lighter strands in specific areas: mainly around the hairline and at the tips (not to the lengths), for an extremely subtle result. As for the shade of these highlights, it depends on your base colour. The shade should be no more than two tones lighter than your base colour so it blends in to perfection without creating any stark contrasts. Above all, the shade applied should always be warm (never cold like platinum blonde) to warm up your colour like a slight bronzing effect on the skin.

Who is it suitable for?

For anyone that wishes to brighten up their hair whilst keeping a natural look! Bronzing is suitable for any base with golden shades applied to blonde or red hair, caramel tones to add a patina to light brown or copper highlights to soften brunettes. This beautiful effect can be created in any hair length and this colouring technique can be personalised for thicker and voluminous or thinner locks to enhance your haircut. As it does not create the unsightly growing-out roots effect, this treatment is extremely easy to maintain!

At Jean Louis David, simply choose between the Sunlight and Contrast treatments according to your base to adorn your locks with an exclusive sun-kissed effect.
