Bridal hairstyles: 3 ideas for an autumn wedding

Wedding hairstyles and outfits also follow the trends! That’s why after a sumer of bohemian hairstyles and messy chignons, autumn 2013 brides will no doubt be adapting to this season’s stricter trends. Here’s a look at the bridal styles to go for over the next few months.

The wet look on loose hair. As seen on the Giambattista Valli catwalk (see above), the wet look is having its say on bridal hairstyles as well. However, while hair should look nice and glossy, it is important for the style not to look too rigid. A successful bridal hairstyle is one with movement, not one that remains fixed in place. Opt for a dual-effect hairstyle rather than the “all-over wet look”. The roots should be shiny but the mid-lengths and ends should be left natural.

The sleek side piece. As you’ve already gathered, this season it’s all about glossy hairstyles, especially when it comes to bridal styles. Not sure if the wet look is for you? Not to worry, go for the sleek side piece. To create this, part your hair to the side and pull the front section of hair over your forehead, almost diagonally. Next, create a glossy effect using a product such as wax or serum. Avoid fixing products that could leave your style looking too rigid.

The body-boosted chignon. Spotted on this season’s catwalks, the chunky chignon adds a retro touch for an immaculate look. With this hairstyle you can dance ‘til dawn without worrying about your hair. Inspired by Sicilian hairstyles, the body-boosted chignon shows off your face and your femininity. To create it, simply part your hair in the middle and backcomb. Finally, work your hair into a strict chignon to make sure your style survives the duration of the party!
