Presented by its inventor Lauren Bowker during London Fashion Week 2017, Fire Dye promises us hair that changes colour... As the temperature changes. Find out more about this hair dye which has quite literally set social networks on fire.
This hair dye gets its name from the surprising effect it has on your hair. It allows you to go from pitch black to flaming red locks, and vice versa, simply by being exposed to heat or a cold draught.
This is a hair innovation made possible thanks to chemistry. The pigments of this semi-permanent dye respond to changes in room temperature. The carbon molecules contained in the formula become "unstable" due to the cold or heat: they absorb light in a different way and give off a new shade. This process changes the colour of your hair. This change is reversible, so the colour of your hair changes constantly due to heat or cold.
However, you need to sit tight before you can try it out as Fire Dye is not yet available on the market. Only time will tell whether you can apply it as a home dye or whether you will need to go to the salon to get this hot new trend.
