The Pros: lightening your hair in summer
Worried that dyeing your hair this summer will cause sun damage? Our pros reveal their top tips for a radiant color, without compromising on vitality and well looked after lengths.
Lightening your hair before going on vacation is not a problem. ‘On the contrary, it’s actually a good idea! This will prepare your hair for future contact with the sun’s rays. The sun will enhance your new lighter shade, improving its tone and perfecting your style. In fact, the sun will naturally lighten your hair, especially around the ends and lengths. However, your roots and inner sections of hair are not affected by this process as they are more shielded against its effects’.
If you’re ready to take the plunge and go a little lighter, book an appointment with your stylist. “Sunlight, an exclusive Jean Louis David treatment, was made for you! This is a very subtle lightening, created by adding lighter highlights where the sun would naturally catch your hair. Your stylist will add lighter areas around the lengths and leave your roots as they are for a more natural finish’.
Our advice: Once your color has been perfected by one of our stylists, look after your new hue with hydrating and nourishing products such as those from the Oil Therapy and Hydra Therapy ranges. Contrast highlights are very subtle, meaning your hair will not be damaged. This means you don’t need to use products designed for colored hair.
