The "Blunt cut", the new hairstyle from the United States

After decades of addiction to layers, American hairstyles are completely reversing the trend by bringing the even-length blunt cut back into fashion. We take a closer look at the blunt cut, the next big hairstyle to try out.

A specific cutting technique

The blunt cut is the hot new hairstyle in the United States. You can get this look in the skilled hands of your hairdresser, who will make a clean precise cut straight across the bottom of your locks. As a result, the tips will all be neatly aligned, without any layers , to create a really bold look. This look is reminiscent of the traditional “prim and proper” girls’ hairstyle that you probably sported as a child, and which has recently hit the Fashion Week catwalks. No wonder, since its simple clear-cut lines bring out your feminine side.

A universal haircut

Good news, you can go for this hairstyle whatever your hair type , as it is very adaptable. The blunt cut adds character to long straight locks, and adds daring structure to curls. Although this hairstyle is perfect for making fine hair look thicker, be careful if you have thick dense locks. This hairstyle will tend to make your locks even heavier. As a result, your hairstylist should lighten the volume of the hairstyle by gradually thinning it out at the roots rather than at the tips, over a period of months, to reach the perfect balance. As for choosing between XXL locks or an ultra-short bob , it is up to you to decide between the endless in-between haircuts which will give you a personalised blunt cut.

Good to know: if you let this on-trend haircut win you over, go for treatments which will help to prevent split ends from forming, and get your tips trimmed once a month for a flawless result.
