The beneficial effects of broccoli oil

We all know how raw or lightly cooked broccoli is excellent for our health. But did you know that the seeds contain an oil which is incredibly effective for deeply nourishing your hair? We take a closer look at the benefits of this 100 % natural product.

Moisturise and nourish your hair without weighing it down

Rich in calcium and Vitamins A, C and K, broccoli oil is an excellent hair nutrient. It deeply nourishes and moisturises the hair fibre without weighing the hair down, perfect for creating big hairstyles. Also, its ingredients keep the hair feeling soft and looking shiny.

An excellent anti-frizz treatment

Besides its effectiveness for taming unruly locks and for sculpting curls, broccoli oil can help strengthen the hair follicles. The result: annoying frizz due to humidity and static electricity can be considerably reduced. With broccoli oil, your hair can be easier to straighten, and stay straight for longer.

An antioxidant to help prevent hair loss

The highly active Vitamin C present in this plant oil can help you to prevent potential seasonal hair loss by controlling the proliferation of free radicals. Although they are essential for cell oxygenation, if too many free radicals are produced they can contribute to premature ageing of the skin. After a few weeks of use, hair tends to be thicker and in better condition. This oil is also rich in Vitamin B6 which can help to reduce stress, one of the main factors in hair loss.

How do I use it?

Unlike castor oil, broccoli oil is only used externally. Do not under any circumstances ingest it. Its beneficial effects allow it to be used as a substitute for conditioner or hair mask. Use it twice a week, by applying a few drops to your scalp immediately after washing. Gently work it into your scalp to stimulate it. Let it work for half an hour and then rinse.

Expert advice: Some people may find they have an allergic reaction to this oil. To test how your skin reacts to broccoli oil, place a drop on the back of your hand and let it soak in. If no redness appears after about fifteen minutes, you should be able to use it as a hair treatment.
