New colouring techniques from Jean Louis David

At Jean Louis David, three new colouring techniques have been designed for this spring-summer 2013. The aim is to stick to the colour trends and give you the colour you’re after. Let’s take a look at these techniques which will do wonders for your new haircut!

Light Shadows is a technique which plays on the effects of shadow and light. “With this technique, the idea is to bring out certain sections of the hair. Lighter pieces are generally saved for the front section and darker pieces for the back. This will give your cut depth.” The hairdresser applies these shades vertically and blends them into the hair to avoid the root effect! This technique is designed especially for medium and dark bases.

The Contrast Extrême technique, however, is to be used on fair hair. “The idea is to use several tones of blond. Darker at the roots and lighter at the ends, again to bring out certain sections and give the cut some depth.” The challenge is to produce a colour of different shades for a striking yet harmonious contrast.

Finally, there’s Limelight. Here, different shades are used over one another to create an intense, shifting colour! “At Jean Louis David we don’t aim to produce an even hair colour. We like to bring out certain sections and use different shades for customised colours. Limelight is perfect for this.” Some sections of hair are lighter so that the hairstyle changes depending on the way you style it and the movement you add. A technique designed for medium and dark bases.

Our tip: When you’re at the salon, don’t think about techniques. Tell your hairdresser what you want and he or she will adapt the colouring technique to suit the colour you want as well as your cut. “The technique used will change depending on the shape of your hair. The colour will add variation and depth to your cut so everything revolves around that!”
